The Brief
At JWT Kitchens & Bathrooms, we are accustomed to tackling unique challenges, and this project in Saltcoats was no exception. The bathroom in this older sandstone property was unusually long and narrow, posing a challenge in creating a modern, spacious feel without sacrificing functionality or style.

The Challenge
The primary challenge was to maximize the use of space in a long, narrow bathroom while ensuring that it felt open and inviting. In older homes, structural walls and existing plumbing often limit layout options, making it crucial to design around these constraints.
Our Approach
To address the space constraints, our design centered around using floating furniture and large format wall boards to create an open feel. The walk-in shower was positioned along one side, and a floating oak vanity unit was installed beneath the window, maintaining functionality and openness.

The use of premium waterproof wall boards in Brushed White and a feature wall in Brushed Graphite inside the shower enclosure ensured a seamless, modern finish. These choices not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal but also reduced maintenance, as they eliminated the need for grout.

Results
The renovation successfully transformed the space into a bright, contemporary bathroom that feels significantly larger than its original footprint. The combination of floating furniture, continuous flooring, and bright finishes allowed the eye to move through the space without interruption.

The introduction of warm oak furniture softened the grey tones and provided essential storage, while the LED illuminated mirror above the vanity unit enhanced lighting, making the space feel brighter, especially during darker mornings and evenings.

Our client was delighted with the transformation, noting the balance between modern aesthetics and practical design. The seamless integration of style and functionality has made this bathroom a standout feature of their home.
